Allow access only when you press Record
Your browser asks for microphone permission when a recording begins. Select Allow for this site. If you previously selected Block, open your browser's site settings, change Microphone to Allow, then reload the page.
Choose the intended input
If a laptop has a built-in microphone, a webcam, a headset, and a virtual device, the browser can choose the wrong one. Open the Mic control in the stage and select the device you are actually speaking into.
Hear the reference with headphones
Headphones reduce the chance that the reference audio is picked up again by your microphone. They also make pauses and quiet words easier to hear before you perform.
When the waveform looks flat
- Check that the physical microphone is not muted.
- Speak at normal volume close to the microphone.
- Confirm the chosen browser input is receiving level in your operating system.
- Close other apps that may be using the microphone, then retry.
A quick pack is the best test. Record one line, play it back, then start a longer scene only after the take sounds right.
